Welcome to the Ring of Valor Application Information Section.
Applicants of all classes are encouraged to apply, however, classes that are closed will be on a case by case review for admission into the guild. Check the chart to the right to see our priorities. You do not need to register with our site in order to fill out an application for Ring of Valor. Only tagged rookies and members are allowed to complete the registration process. Ring of Valor is day 1 Alliance guild on Uther that focuses on endgame PvE content in WoW. We are a guild made up mostly of adults, mostly professionals, and we enjoy retaining a low profile on our server. To this end, if you are UNDER the age of 21, or if you're not finished with school, please do not apply. Applying is a time investment for both the applicant and the guild. Please read all the following and decide if Ring of Valor is right for you before applying. 1) Playtime Currently we raid at least 4 nights a week (Monday through Thursday), 4 hours a night, from 7 PM Pacific to ~11:00 PM Pacific. Members are expected to farm outside of raids for gear, consumable materials, and gold for repairs. Sometimes we finish early, but ~11PM pacific is the standard, not the exception. 2) Teamwork We expect that you: -learn new encounters -understand and follow directions quickly and properly -execute a plan and improvise as needed -help your fellow guild members as much as you can -have a positive attitude -be open to constructive criticism 3) Leadership We are looking for our next generation of raid commanders. Leadership is about helping people commit to and achieve a common goal, not barking orders. 4) Dedication When we learn encounters, we wipe. A lot. It's how we gather information. It's how we refine strategies and tactics so we can progress. We look for players who won't be overly discouraged by repair bills, who are willing to help farm materials for encounters, who are hungry to kill bosses and willing to do what it takes to get there. Additionally, there will be times when you won't get into a raid. This pertains more to rookies than active members, who almost always make it into a raid if they are punctual and there is room. We generally make room for promising rookies when we raid certain instances/bosses, but that doesn't happen in every single raid. We can easily make a group with 25 good players, however the challenge lies with the group make-up. Do we have enough healers? Enough Tanks? Enough Range or Melee DPS? 5) Hardware and required addons/programs You need a clean, stable connection and a computer fast enough to handle raiding in WoW. You need to be able to react quickly and effectively, and your hardware should allow you to do that. You will need addons which change from time to time. You will always need a program called Ventrilo. Vent is voice chat software, basically a conference call over the internet. You don't need to be a big talker, you just need to be in our raid channel so you hear important information from the raid leaders. We also require an assortment of addons that make our raid runs much smoother--Deadly Boss Mods, Omen, Ora2 to start. Once you are invited to the guild, there will be links provided to all the addons you will need to be able to raid with us. 6) If you are only focused on getting loot then get to another guild. Loot is great. It's a reward. If you spend time raiding with us and do your part, the loot will come. If we find that you are so focused on loot that you are a detriment to the guild, you will be removed from the guild. Don't expect to be tagged for a week or two and get a piece of rare loot, if it happens you're lucky but chances are there is someone else who has been around much longer than you waiting for that same piece of loot. If raid encounter progression gets you more excited than loot you will fit right in. We use a Loot Council system to distribute loot--not DKP and not /roll. When making loot decisions we take in to account recent player loot acquisitions, attendance, need and upgrade benefit, among other factors. 7) Other character requirements -level 85 -At this stage in the game we would like to see people who have a strong working knowledge of their class and class needs for success. We expect potential applicants to have researched and investigated potential spec, gear, gems and enchants. We also expect any applicant to have a gear score good enough to perform well in the current progression instances. When we recruit you, we are recruiting you as a person, not just the toon, so please, NO ACCOUNT SHARING. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact Lmandragoran or Singe in-game. Note: Dropping an application doesn't mean you're automatically accepted to Ring of Valor. You will be approached by an officer to ensure that you meet our requirements before being invited to the guild. Until this happens, you may not come to our raids. And if you're applying from another server, don't start your transfer process until you've been told that you've been accepted. Once you are tagged ROV you will be given the rank of rookie. The rookie tag is an evaluation period which has an undetermined length. During your rookie period you will be evaluated using some of the principals mentioned above. If we feel like you are a good fit then you will be promoted to member status. Being tagged a rookie is not a guarantee that you will ever gain member status. If you can't take a joke or some constructive (or nonconstructive) criticism then this guild is not for you. If you are easily offended, this guild is not for you. If you are obsessed with obtaining loot, this guild is not for you. Roll with the punches, throw some of your own and respect our loot decisions and you will be welcome. We do not have any enforced attendance policy, however, showing up more often and being ready to go at raid time will increase your likelihood of having your rookie status promoted and of being considered for loot once you're in. Our typical 25-man raid times are Monday-Friday starting at 7pm server time. Raids are on average four hours, but there are times when we will run over, as well as call the raid early. If you are ready to submit your application, please contact in-game (Lmandragoran or Singe are alternate contacts). We hope you can be a part of our conquest of end game content! -Lmandragoran [ Edited Wed Aug 17 2016, 03:29PM ] |
